The centre-left has extended its lead over Italy’s centre-right in the latest SWG poll for La7. Voting intentions put the centre-left bloc at 45%, up 0.1 percentage points from a week earlier, while the centre-right fell 0.3 points to 43.8%.

Brothers of Italy remains the country’s largest party, despite dropping 0.3 points to 29%. Forza Italia also declined, falling 0.2 points to 7.2%. The League gained 0.1 points to reach 5.5%, but was overtaken by Roberto Vannacci’s Futuro Nazionale, which rose 0.2 points to 5.8%. Noi Moderati stood at 1.1%, up 0.1 points, while Sud chiama Nord was at 1%.

Within the centre-left, the Democratic Party was unchanged at 20.6%, while the Five Star Movement increased by 0.2 points to 12.6%. The Green and Left Alliance slipped 0.1 points to 6.1%. Italia Viva was at 2.2% and +Europa at 1.3%, both down, while Action remained unchanged at 3.1%.

The poll comes as centre-left parties work on a joint programme. The Green and Left Alliance has proposed a wealth tax on assets above €5.4 million, and the idea of legalising soft drugs has also been raised as a possible proposal for coalition discussions.
