CD Tenerife announced that striker Jesús de Miguel died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the age of 30, after a collision during the club’s match against FC Andorra the previous evening. The club said he died at 8 a.m. and expressed its grief in a statement published later that morning.
The collision happened in the seventh minute of stoppage time, during a counterattack just beyond the halfway line, when de Miguel and Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono came together. De Miguel suffered serious injuries to his head and chest. Owono was sent off, and referee Manuel Perez stopped the match with the score at 2-2.
Medical staff treated de Miguel on the pitch for five minutes before he was taken to hospital. An earlier update said emergency responders had to revive him on the way there. He was breathing independently but unconscious, and the club later reported that his neurological condition had worsened.
Tenerife expressed its condolences to de Miguel’s family and those close to him, and asked for their privacy to be respected. FC Andorra also offered its sympathy to the family, the player’s teammates and friends, and CD Tenerife.
