CD Tenerife has confirmed the passing of forward Jesús de Miguel Alameda at the age of 30. The player died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, following a cardiac arrest that occurred one day earlier after an on-field collision during a match against FC Andorra in Spain's second division.
The incident took place in stoppage time of the second half when De Miguel collided with opposing goalkeeper Jesus Owono. Owono had left his penalty area to clear a long ball and struck the attacker in the chest with his knee. De Miguel remained motionless on the pitch as players from both teams urgently called for medical assistance, while Owono was issued a direct red card.
Medical staff attended to the player on the field for more than five minutes before he was transported to a hospital via ambulance. The match was subsequently interrupted following the incident.
In an emotional statement, CD Tenerife expressed profound sorrow and disbelief at the news, noting that no words of comfort could alleviate their overwhelming sadness. The club stated its solidarity with De Miguel's devastated family and loved ones, while the player's family thanked supporters for their messages and requested maximum respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
The football community across Spain has paid tribute to the late player. FC Barcelona released a statement saying their thoughts and support are with his family and friends, while Real Madrid also expressed its condolences to De Miguel's family, teammates, club, and all those close to him.
