A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly attacking another man with an axe in Nova Iguaçu, in the Baixada Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro state. The incident occurred on Saturday (31).
The male victim was taken to the Cabuçu Emergency Care Unit (UPA) with injuries to the head area.
According to the Military Police, officers from the 20th Battalion (Mesquita) were called after the victim arrived at the healthcare facility. Police confirmed the incident at the scene and received information from relatives that helped identify and locate the suspect.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the 56th Police District in Comendador Soares. The Civil Police said he was formally arrested in the act and charged with qualified attempted murder. The case was referred to the courts.
