Lille and Bodo/Glimt played out a 0-0 draw in the fourth round of the Champions League, with goalkeeper Berke Ozer producing a series of key saves to secure a clean sheet for the French side. The result ended Lille’s run of conceding goals in each of its first three matches in the competition, but did little to ease the team’s difficult position in the qualification race.
Lille looked composed in the first half, moving the ball carefully and defending with greater organisation than in its earlier European fixtures. Benjamin André was influential in midfield, while the visitors created several chances on the break. However, Lille could not turn those openings into a goal.
Bodo/Glimt became more dangerous after the interval, and Ozer kept Lille level with saves in the 59th, 67th and 84th minutes. The Norwegian side had scored in each of its previous five home matches in the Champions League league phase, but could not find a way past the Turkish goalkeeper.
Lille’s approach was controlled but lacked precision in the final third. Bakwa, Diaoune and Haraldsson all tried to threaten, yet none managed to seriously test the home goalkeeper. The waterlogged synthetic pitch was also described as a hindrance, while Lille struggled to find the decisive moment needed to break down Bodo/Glimt’s defence.
The draw ends Bodo/Glimt’s run of six consecutive home wins in the Champions League. The hosts improved in the second half and finished strongly, but had been subdued before the break. Jens Petter Hauge saw little of the ball, while captain Patrick Berg tried to make an impact, including from set pieces.
Lille had entered the match needing points after losing its first three Champions League games. Although qualification is not mathematically out of reach, the report describes the club’s prospects as increasingly slim, with upcoming fixtures against Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, Slovan Bratislava and Roma.
