The Santos City Council in São Paulo state has re-elected Adilson Júnior (PP) as president for the 2027–2028 term. The single slate received 17 votes in favor, one against and one abstention during the council’s 65th ordinary session of 2026 on Tuesday, November 2.

Nineteen of the council’s 21 members were present for the vote; two were absent. The elected slate includes Adriano Piemonte (União) as first vice-president and Paulo Miyasiro (Republicanos) as second vice-president. Lincoln Reis (Pode) will serve as first secretary, and Edivaldo Fernandes Menezes, known as Chita (PSB), as second secretary.

The current leadership remains in office through December 31, 2026. The new team is scheduled to take over on January 1, 2027. The council changed its internal rules in September to allow members of the leadership board to be re-elected for another two-year term.

The new lineup also reshuffles several positions. Reis moves from first vice-president to first secretary, while Piemonte takes over the first vice-presidency. The secretaries handle administrative and procedural duties, including reading documents submitted to the council, recording members’ speeches and signing board acts.
