SPIEGEL TV’s podcast “Im Verhör” has released the second instalment of its series “Corrupt Justice,” examining the case of Aleksander Kolundzic, a police informant who was tortured and killed in Marbella, Spain. The episode focuses on his dealings with Frankfurt lawyer Benjamin D., described in the report as a drug boss involved in criminal business.

According to the account, Benjamin D. had lent money to Kolundzic for a major deal, but the money was not repaid. The lawyer allegedly did not know that his business partner was an informant registered with Frankfurt police unit K30. The report says Benjamin D. spoke of killing Kolundzic, who later died in Spain under what it describes as mysterious circumstances.

Images recovered from an encrypted phone reportedly show Kolundzic restrained in a chair, with his upper body and arms wrapped in plastic film. He was tortured for around 20 hours, the report says. After his death, the officer who managed him as an informant deleted the phone used to communicate with him.

Reporter Claas Meyer-Heuer and podcast host Christina Pohl discuss the case using messages from encrypted phones. The series draws on Meyer-Heuer’s book “Protokolle der Unterwelt” and examines criminal networks and alleged corruption in Germany. “Im Verhör” is available free through podcast apps, according to SPIEGEL TV.
