The body of a 17-year-old teenager was recovered from the sea at Trapiche Beach in Penha, Santa Catarina, on Sunday, November 1st. The Civil Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. The recovery operation was made possible after the boy's father, Juliano Longen, utilized a location-sharing application to track his son's movements and monitor his phone's battery status.

The teenager left home around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, November 29th. Longen became concerned when the device indicated it had run out of battery at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday and remained offline for several hours. Later that Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m., a couple discovered the teenager's clothes and mobile phone at the pier. Although they found the items, they only activated the phone on Sunday, which allowed Longen to determine the exact location where the device had been left.

After contacting the couple who found the phone, Longen was able to identify the specific spot. Firefighters were immediately alerted to the situation. During the search operations, a witness reported seeing what appeared to be a body at the bottom of the sea approximately three meters deep. Responding to this information, firefighters used a jet ski to reach the indicated point and successfully recovered the victim's body.
