In Anápolis, located in central Goiás, a 43-year-old housekeeper successfully escaped from her ex-husband after being held in illegal detention for 14 days. According to Deputy Raphael Barboza, the woman utilized a real episode of severe shoulder pain caused by bursitis as a strategic maneuver to convince her captor to take her to a medical facility. The incident occurred on Sunday, November 1st.

The suspect, a 36-year-old gas station attendant, was arrested in flagrante delicto by the Military Police. Deputy Barboza explained that the woman told her ex-husband she could not endure the pain and needed to be taken for treatment. He complied with her request but left her at the health unit out of fear, as he was aware that an urgent protective measure was already in effect against him.

Upon entering the consultation room, the woman immediately informed the on-duty medical team and nurses that she was being held in illegal detention and that her aggressor was waiting outside to take her back. The facility's security guard subsequently contacted the Military Police via the Operations Center (Copom). A police vehicle was dispatched to the scene to rescue the woman and gather initial information regarding the crime.

Police records indicate that the woman had originally gone to her ex-partner's residence to retrieve personal belongings following their separation but was prevented from leaving. For two weeks, she was forbidden from going outside or using a mobile phone to contact family members. She remained locked inside the house under constant threats of being chased if she attempted to flee, a situation witnessed by her 18-year-old daughter.

The suspect was taken to the Anápolis Flagrantes Central and charged with illegal detention and violation of an urgent protective measure under the Maria da Penha Law. Deputy Barboza emphasized the importance of publicizing this case as a practical example of survival, encouraging women facing similar domestic violence situations to utilize public health services as safe points to request assistance. The defense for the suspect has not been located as of the latest report update.
