The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has completed its assessment of Mexico’s framework for preventing and combating money laundering, the country’s Finance Ministry announced. The findings on how effectively Mexico’s measures are working are due to be published on December 17.
The review involved several government bodies and was coordinated by the Financial Intelligence Unit, which operates under the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. Mexico’s central bank, National Guard and other agencies took part, working alongside private-sector representatives to present progress and address observations from multilateral organizations during meetings with foreign delegations.
In a statement, the Mexican government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of the economic system by implementing FATF recommendations through cooperation between public authorities and the private sector. It said a central aim is to protect families’ assets.
