Donald Trump’s Election Day message to voters was that the United States is “on the rise” under his leadership. Speaking to Fox & Friends on Tuesday, he said the country had regained the respect of other world leaders, despite his low approval ratings among Americans.

Trump contrasted the country’s current standing with what he described as its position two years earlier, when, he said, other leaders did not take the United States seriously. He also pointed to a reported $10 drop in oil prices and claimed the US had “total control” of the Strait of Hormuz through a naval blockade.

In the interview, Trump discussed measures in the One Big Beautiful Bill, including an exemption from taxes on tips. He also said Chinese President Xi Jinping had praised his actions during a visit in September.

Polling figures cited in the report paint a different picture of Trump’s standing at home. The CNN polling average put his approval at 34%, while a CNN poll conducted in October recorded a low of 32%. In that survey, 73% of respondents disapproved of his handling of the economy.

Trump celebrated falling oil prices, but fuel prices on Election Day reached reported records: $4.15 per gallon for regular gasoline and $6.29 for diesel statewide, according to AAA.

He also addressed opposition to data centers being built in American communities, arguing that cash payments could help ease resistance. Trump suggested giving residents between $10,000 and $20,000 each.
