Nearly 250 million Americans are eligible to vote in the November 3, 2026, midterm elections. The ballot includes every seat in the House of Representatives, 35 seats in the Senate and 36 governorships, making the contests a test of President Donald Trump’s standing and his ability to advance his agenda through 2028.
More than 57.6 million people had voted early, a record for a midterm election, according to the report. Opinion polls during the campaign pointed to momentum for Democrats, but the results will show whether that translates into votes.
Republicans face the prospect of losing their House majority and are also seeking to hold on to the Senate. The outcomes will determine the balance of power in Congress for the final two years of Trump’s second and last term.
