Cedae will conduct preventive annual maintenance on the Guandu System starting at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3. The work is intended to prepare the water treatment station for summer, when demand is expected to be higher.

Water production will be suspended in Rio de Janeiro, Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias, Mesquita, Nilópolis, Nova Iguaçu, Queimados and São João de Meriti. Completion is scheduled for 4 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, although water production will resume gradually after the work ends.

The Guandu System produces an average of 43,000 liters of water per second and supplies approximately 9 million people in the capital and Baixada Fluminense region.

Around 500 employees will work across more than 100 locations during the interruption, carrying out inspections, cleaning and preventive and corrective maintenance on system equipment and structures. A macrometer, a device similar to a water meter but designed for large-diameter pipes, will also be installed.

The concessionaires responsible for water distribution will use the interruption to conduct inspections and repairs. Cedae recommends that consumers store water in advance and postpone tasks requiring high consumption.
